Last week was a rather eventful week for my dear Dad. He's 59 and in rather good health, however, Tuesday morning woke up feeling like he couldn't catch his breath. He thought it was bronchitis and mother took him to the doctor to have a breathing treatment and get some meds and then go home. So they thought. Tuesday was supposed to be another uneventful day like that. However, it wasn't.
When he arrived at the doctor's office, the doctors were asking him all the usual questions, "What are your symptoms?" They did some bloodwork to find that he had elevated enzymes in his heart, which meant that there was going to be a "heart event" sometime soon. They decided to do a heart cath to see what was going on. What they didn't tell mom and dad at the time was that if those levels were to spike or get too high, he'd have a heart attack. The heart cath revealed that one of his major arteries was 90% blocked and that the other arteries were significantly clogged.
Wednesday morning, they did a quadruple bipass surgery on Daddy. They found that 2 arteries were 90% blocked and 2 were 80% blocked. Praise the Lord the doctor found this before he had a stroke or heart attack. PRAISE THE LORD!!
Just 4 hours after Daddy's surgery, Jayna, Jillian and I arrived in San Angelo. I went in the recovery room (his room in ICU) and saw him all hooked up to IV's, monitors, and he still had his breathing tube (not hooked up) still in. NOT a sight I was prepared for in the least. But, he was alive, and breathing on his own. Thus began the long week and a half of recovery there in Room 2 in ICU. It took his kidneys a few more days to "wake up" from the surgery thus causing concern, but now they're working like a champ.
My Dad has been a real trooper these days in ICU and I'm proud to announce he's now home and recovering in his LazyBoy...and rightly so. I talked to Dad yesterday and he said that he had a good day and the best night's sleep in a long time (8 or 9 hours) and had a vision from the Lord that the Lord was holding him in His Hands. He had a peace that was unlike any other time and he was so happy. That's my Dad.
Dad, I love you. I'm proud of how well you have done. Now, if you do this again, I'll ring your neck!!
All my love...
